They will remember our adventures, not our stuff.
Kids outgrow stuff. They won’t outgrow adventures!
Having Miles (age almost 4) home all week due to a 🦠 outbreak at his school was a challenge. I could have easily gone to Target and bought him new toys, gadgets, etc to make it easier.
But here’s the thing about “stuff” - stuff only entertains children for a very short while before they move on to the next thing.
Adventures might require a bit more planning, but once the kids are out there, interacting with the natural world, everything falls into place.
The outdoors offers limitless potential for children. It’s a place where they can relax their minds; it’s a place they can design, create, and explore - not only the natural world, but themselves.
On this particular adventure, Miles decided to see what would happen if he stuck his boot all the way in the water until water seeped in. 😂 🙊 Wesley, the baby, kept to his rock for the most part and enjoyed poking a long stick into the water.
How are you adventuring lately?
